SUMMIT Raleigh Office Saves the Day …with Canned Food

Our Raleigh office’s community-focused team of structural superheroes joined forces with Clark Nexsen and Whiting-Turner in April to build an entry for AIA Triangle’s 2018 CANstruction contest.   This year’s theme was centered around “saving the planet” — and our team quickly decided that few characters embody that spirit better than the one-and-only Lego Batman!  Under cover of early morning darkness (read:  broad daylight) and shrouded in mystery (read:  behind lots of floor-to-ceiling glass), our team set to work and skillfully assembled more than 3,500 cans into a larger-than-life version of Lego Batman, recreating a scene from the hit movie.  While the Canned Crusader didn’t garner any awards this year from the shrewd panel of design judges, our team was satisfied with their creation nonetheless.  Just knowing that our efforts (and all those cans) would greatly benefit those in need through the Foodbank of Central and Eastern NC was reward enough.  Plus, who doesn’t want to have their picture taken with the Dark Knight?  We’ve heard rumors that SUMMIT is short-listed for Materials Testing services on the next version of the Batcave…
